Obituary of Charles R. Tuckey

Charles ("Chuck") R. Tuckey passed away peacefully on August 2, 2017, in Yardley, Pennsylvania. He was 92 years old. Born in Pittsburgh, PA on January 11, 1925, Chuck is a graduate of Verona High School and a World War II veteran. Upon leaving high school, he joined the Navy in 1943 and served as a naval officer on a PT boat in the South Pacific. He then went on to attend Penn State University where he earned a degree in Civil Engineering. Chuck joined Gulf Oil Corporation after graduation, a company that would be his professional home for his entire 38-year career. After living and working at different locations around the world, Chuck retired from Gulf Oil as International Production Manager in Houston, TX. Chuck is preceded in death by his parents, James C. Tuckey, Jr. and wife Carolyn; his older brother, James ("Jimmy") C. Tuckey III, a naval aviator, and wife Dorothy ("Dottie"); and brother-in-law Joseph R. Ritchey. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Irene A. Tuckey; his daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and David Spencer of Yardley, PA; his daughter, Suzanne Tuckey of Irving, TX; and his older sister, Bertha T. Ritchey of Verona, PA. Chuck was known as a man with unquestionable integrity, an unsurpassed work ethic, a limitless love for animals, and a steadfast loyalty to family and country. Although his career took him far and wide, he never lost his respect and appreciation for his roots, and for the people of Verona. Chuck will be laid to rest on August 8, 2017, with military honors at Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, PA.
