Obituary of Ellen V. Masterson

Ellen V. Masterson of Yardley, PA died on Tuesday January 16, 2018 at Buckingham Valley Nursing Center in Buckingham, PA. She was 87. Born in Jersey City, NJ, a daughter of the late Edward and Margaret McKenna Gunnell, she resided in Yardley for the past 60 years. Ellen graduated from the St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Trenton, NJ. She remained at St. Francis for her entire career as a Registered Nurse. She was a member of St. Ignatius Church and active in the Adoration Society. Ellen was a mainstay as a volunteer fundraiser for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia Catholic Charities Annual Appeal and The American Cancer Society. In addition, she enjoyed contributing her time and talent at Villa Victoria Academy in costume design and as a seamstress for its annual theatrical productions. Wife of the late Vincent P. Masterson and sister of the late Margaret Bartell, she is survived by her son, Vincent P. Masterson of Levittown, PA; her daughter, Martha M. Masterson of Yardley, and her brother, Edward Gunnell of Spring Lake Heights, NJ. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am Thursday January 18th at St. Ignatius Church, 999 Reading Avenue, Yardley, where friend may call from 10am. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery, Langhorne, PA.
