Richard Charles Tumm of Newtown, PA died on Sunday February 17, 2019 at the Southeastern Veterans Center in Spring City, PA. He was 75. Richard was a graduate of Clarkson University with a B.S. in Chemistry. Upon his college graduation, he joined the United States Army and completed Green Beret Special Forces training. He served with distinction in Fort Gulick, Panama as a demolitions expert. Upon being discharged from the Army, Richard joined the workforce as a manager and broker concentrating mainly in the chemical and food ingredient industries. During his working career, he earned his MBA from The Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Richard enjoyed living in Bucks County and was active in the Special Forces Association and working with the Special Forces Wounded Warriors. He is survived by his wife, Mary G. Ward; his children, Christopher Tumm of Boynton Beach, FL, and Kathryn Tumm of Mill Valley, CA and his step children, John Ward of Philadelphia, PA, and Meghan Ward of Newtown, PA. His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30am Monday February 25th at St. John the Evangelist Church, 752 Big Oak Road, Morrisville, PA. Burial will follow at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA. Friends may call from 10:15am to 11:15am Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to phillyfriendsofV.org.
