Obituary of Ethel L. Preiss

Ethel L. Preiss of Jamison, PA passed away peacefully on Saturday March 2, 2019 at the Artman Lutheran Home in Ambler, PA. She was 89. Born and raised in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Horace P. and Eleanor Unger Verrill. Ethel spent her adult life in Bucks County, living in Lower Makefield for 57 years before moving to Jamison four years ago. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who always put her family first. Her interests in crafts and decorating led to a career later in life in the retail field at The Cricket Box, first at the Yardley Grist Mill and later at The Village of Newtown. Later she was a fixture at the Bee Hive Gift Shop at St. Mary Hospital. On the community side, Ethel spent many hours volunteering for the Bucks County Special Teens Project and the Special Olympics of Pennsylvania. She was devoted to her son Gregg and his care. This started with a vigorous innovative early education program that included patterning which involved numerous neighbor support which Ethel spearheaded. She was an active member of the Morrisville United Methodist Church where she supported numerous activities for individuals with special needs. Wife of the late Harry P. Preiss, Jr., and grandmother of the late Craig David Gould, she is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Lynn and Richard Gould of Hatboro, her son and daughter-in-law Glenn and Anna Preiss of Richboro and her son and devoted caregiver Gregg Preiss of Hatboro; a brother, Edwin Verrill of Jacksonville, FL; three grandchildren, Megan and her husband David Peppard, Matthew Gould, Jenna Gould, and three great grandchildren, Nolan, Grant and Wyatt Peppard. Funeral services will be at 11am, Thursday March 7, at the Chapel of Peace at Sunset Memorial Park, 333 County Line Road, Feasterville, PA, where friends may call from 10 am. Interment will follow.
