Clara Cowell, in the year of Our Lord, Anno Domini 2020, on Mother's Day, May 10th, at the age of 87, passed away, surrounded by her daughters, Rose and Catherine in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. A private graveside service will be held with Rev. Robert B. Kolakowski, JCD officiating. FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home will be handling all arrangements. A Catholic Mass will be celebrated when permitted. Clara was born in Trenton, New Jersey to Frank and Rose Martucci on September 18, 1932. She attended Trenton Central High School and volunteered at Saint Anthony's Parish and School in Trenton, New Jersey. Clara volunteered at Birth Rite for many years as a staunch pro-life advocate. She enjoyed opera, Sacred Music, she was a prolific painter, extraordinary baker, but derived most joy in taking care of her grandchildren with her husband Lenny. Many days were spent with her grandson Louis and Lenny shopping and drive through at Boston Market. She helped raise her granddaughter Jena and silently financed her endeavor in Agent Nateur. Clara is survived by her daughters Rose Cowell and Catherine Cowell, her son Anthony Cowell and his wife Margaret Maloney and their children Luke and Faith Cowell and her daughter Marcella Covello and grandchildren Louis Leonard Longo and Jena Cowell-Scaccetti. Clara is survived by her sister-in-Law Patricia Cowell and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Leonard Cowell and grandson Justin Longo. Memorial donations may be made to Priests for Life, PO Box 236695, Cocoa, Florida 32923, priestsforlife.org. Clara passes her love of Catholicism, the Rosary, Art, Classical Music and passion for the pro-life movement to her children and grandchildren.
