Obituary of Kenneth W. Gardiner
Please share a memory of Kenneth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Kenneth Warren Gardiner, age 72, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Morrisville, Pennsylvania on Monday, August 10, 2020.
Ken is survived by his sister Elizabeth Petrylak and her husband Joseph Fabiani of Springfield, Pennsylvania; niece Ashley Petrylak of New York, New York; nephew Michael Petrylak, his wife Megan, and their children Mikey and McKayla, of Eagleville, Pennsylvania; and spouse Tui Gardiner of Venice, Fl. Ken was the son of Kenneth W. Gardiner, Sr. and Elizabeth D. Gardiner of Havertown, PA, both deceased.
Ken was born on June 22, 1948 in Darby, Pennsylvania. His boyhood years in Havertown were spent playing Little League baseball, soccer, and volleyball. After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania in 1970, Ken continued his architectural studies in Newcastle, Englan, courtesy of Rotary International. Ken enjoyed traveling and always spoke fondly of years in the UK, especially the opportunity he had to coach a women's volleyball team! Ken was a high;y respected architect and worked as a Project Director at Kling-Lindquist Partnership (TKLP) and later joined the Ballinger Firm as a Senior Project Manager in 1999. Ken lead teams in designing and executing building projects such as the Glaxo Research Facility (NC), Astra USA, Rohm & Haas Bristol Research Park, and the School of Sciences and Mathematics at the College of Charleston. Ken was a proud member of the American Institute of Architects and the Professional Services Management Association (of which he was a past president).
Ken loved to cook and was a culinary inspiration to his family who were never without the latest kitchen gadgets. Ken was also an avid golfer and had been a member of the Riverton Country Club in Cinnaminson, New Jersey since 2007. He was a member of their board, serving as the Chair of the Bowling Committee, as well as a member of the House Committee. He also lent his project management experience to a redesign of Riverton's Gin's Mill Bar and overall clubhouse space. Ken felt a deep connection to his "family" at Riverton and enjoyed bringing his real family there to celebrate important events.
Ken was someone who appreciated the daily life force that went swirling around him... while he was content to sit quietly by and take it all in. His presence will be sorely missed by family and friends alike. In light of Covid conditions, memorial arrangements have not been made yet. Inquiries or condolences are being handled through his sister, Elizabeth, at condolences.kengardiner@gmail.com.
