Pauline M. Whitlow

Pauline M. Whitlow, age 90, of Newtown, Pennsylvania, entered Heaven’s Gates on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at home surrounded by the love of her family. She passed from natural causes while in Hospice Care.

She was born on February 20, 1930 in Trenton, New Jersey, daughter of the late Julius H. Otto and Pauline Hoffman Otto.  She graduated from Trenton High School in 1948.

Pauline married the love of her life, Arthur H. Whitlow, in 1950. They had three children, Arthur, Kevin and Paula. Throughout their family life together they lived in Trenton, New Jersey, Utica, Michigan, Mentor, Ohio and Yardley and Newtown, Pennsylvania.

Throughout the years Pauline worked as a switchboard operator at Bell Telephone and Mercer Hospital, she worked briefly at the Yardley Florist and volunteered in the women’s hospital auxiliary in Michigan and was a member of the Lower Makefield Women’s Club and Garden Club. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother and always present and involved in all of her children’s activities – Little League, ice hockey, golf, gymnastics, 4-H and marching band. She was always proudly in attendance with her husband for Washington Crossing Rotary functions and Yardley Country Club celebrations.

Pauline’s main focus in life was her family. She had a never-ending commitment of love and caring and guidance for her husband and three children. She was an excellent cook and baker. She made themed homemade, decorated birthday cakes for all. Her homes were immaculate, beautifully decorated, inside and out, but most importantly were a happy, safe, fun, loving and accepting environment. She expressed her love freely and also her life lessons and discipline. She had a great laugh and taught all of us that sometimes you just have to laugh – at a situation and at yourself! In tough times she would say “this too shall pass”.

Her travels were mainly to visit with family and she and Art enjoyed their trips to the Jersey Shore, Florida to visit family and friends and play golf and her many adventures in Colorado in the Rocky Mountains.

Pauline loved angels and she was an avid collector of any type of angel. Her Christmas cards always had angels on them with a beautifully written personal note inside. She has gifted many of her angels over the years. She has always been our angel on earth, and now she rests peacefully with God’s angels.

Pauline was loved and admired by all who had the honor and pleasure of knowing her. She will remain fondly in our hearts forever and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She set the example of how a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend should live their life and care for all.

Daughter of the late Julius H and Pauline R. Otto, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Arthur H. Whitlow; her brother, William Otto and sister, Doris Coleman. She is survived by her brother, Jack F. Otto of Trenton, New Jersey and her two sons, Arthur T. Whitlow of Newtown, Pennsylvania and Kevin D. Whitlow of Manchester, New Jersey, and a daughter, Paula M. Bentz and her husband, Dr. Michael A. Bentz of Boulder, Colorado; three grandchildren, Paulette R. Whitlow, Jennifer A. Bentz and Cristine E. Winston; four great -grandchildren, Autumn, August, Talmage and Emerson; and several nieces and nephews.

Private burial rites will be conducted by the family.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Chandler Hall Hospice or the charity of the donor’s choice.
