Obituary of Nancy V. Walsh

Nancy Walsh Nancy Backes Walsh, 83, of Ewing passed away Sunday, September 6, 2020, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Hamilton. Born in Trenton, she attended Villa Victoria Academy and Rosemont College. Nancy was a dedicated teacher who touched many lives in her long career as an elementary teacher at Blessed Sacrament School. Nancy was the beloved wife of the late William J. Walsh and daughter of the late William Wright Backes and Margaret McMillan Backes. Nancy was also the sister of the late William W Backes, Jr., and the late Susan Backes Barcalow. Known for her strength, determination, wit, and generosity, Nancy took delight in dogs, birds, gardening and Philly sports. She was a voracious reader who loved to soak up the sun and spend time with family. Nancy will be dearly missed by her sister in law Joy Backes; nephews Pierce Backes, Matthew Backes, Scott Barcalow; and niece Christy Pomager; as well as several great nephews and a great niece. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 11, 2020 at 11:00am at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 137 W. Upper Ferry Rd. Ewing, NJ. A calling hour will be held at the church from 10:00am until 11:00am. Interment will take place at Ewing Church Cemetery, Scotch rd., Ewing.
