Sylvia C. Beesburg

Sylvia Carmela Arena Beesburg, loving wife of Robert Beesburg, passed away on Friday January 29, 2021 at Pennswood Village, Newtown, PA at the age of 88.

Sylvia was born in Trenton NJ on November 13, 1932, daughter of the late Aldo and Mabel Cerenzia Arena. She was a graduate of Hamilton High School West. After high school, she attended Rider University and graduated with an AA degree in Business Management. She worked for ten years as an executive secretary for Thiokol Corp. in Bristol, PA. In the early ‘70’s,

Sylvia became a travel agent and, later, a Certified Travel Consultant. This career provided her and her husband the ability to travel worldwide. While Sylvia enjoyed her travel adventures, she most especially loved going to the beaches of New Jersey with her family.

She was a member of the Woodside Presbyterian Church. Sylvia loved flower arranging as a member of the Makefield Garden Club.  She also loved playing the piano and spirited games of Bridge. Sylvia was very active in planning and attending her high school reunions.

She married her high school sweetheart, Robert Y. Beesburg in 1953. They celebrated 67 years of marriage in May 2020. Besides her husband, she is survived by her two children, her daughter April Beesburg Horton of Yardley, PA, her son Robert Y. Beesburg Jr. and his wife Cheri of Chapin, SC; three grandchildren, Michelle Horton, Rob Y. Beesburg III and Chloe Beesburg Kennedy; her brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Mary Arena, Sr. of Ewing, NJ and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Private family funeral services will be held on Friday February 5, 2021 at the FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home in Yardley, PA. Burial will follow in the Newtown Cemetery, Newtown, PA. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Woodside Presbyterian Church.
