Obituary of Constance Ann Scialabba

Please share a memory of Constance to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
. Constance "Connie" Scialabba, age 55, passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2016, at home surrounded by her loving husband and two children. Connie was born on December 14, 1960, in Brooklyn, New York. She grew-up in Skillman, New Jersey, and lived and worked in Mercer County, New Jersey for many years. Connie and her husband moved to Bucks County, Pennsylvania, in the late 1980's to raise their family. She was a longtime resident of Yardley, PA. Connie graduated from Montgomery High School in 1979. After high school, Connie worked in the restaurant-service industry, training as a pastry chef and managing several restaurants in Princeton, New Jersey and surrounding areas. At night and on her days off she successfully started and grew a business of her own, Connie's Cakes, making wedding cakes and deserts for catering events and local restaurants. With the birth of her two children, Connie devoted most of her time and all her love to them. An active member of the community, Connie taught cooking classes, volunteered for her children's school and extracurricular activities. In 1995, while living in Morrisville, PA, Connie founded a charitable organization, GreenSpace, that engaged community members and volunteers to improve the town. Their work helped to revitalize areas of the town through painting, landscaping, rehabilitating community buildings and infrastructure, and constructing a state-of-the-art children's playground. Through her efforts she and her organization were named the 1997 "Bucks Beautiful Leaders." In recent years, after her children left home, Connie was pursuing a degree in social work, urged by her love of helping others. Even while battling breast cancer she attended classes and volunteered for the needy. She loved spending time with her family and close friends. Connie had a very kind heart, good sense of humor, and relentless spirit. Connie was a bright light in the life of many people, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Connie is survived by her devoted husband, Steven Scialabba, and two loving children, Joseph Scialabba and Adriana Scialabba. Connie is also survived by her father and mother, Daniel and Lavora Noyes; two sisters, Barbara Noyes and Elizabeth Comey; a brother, William Noyes; and numerous loving family members, nieces, nephews, and close friends. A visitation will be held at the FitzGerald–Sommer Funeral Home, 17 S. Delaware Ave., Memorial Page Yardley, Pennsylvania 19067, on Tuesday, October 25, 2016, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The family will be there to greet relatives, friends, and well-wishers. A funeral mass will be held for family and close friends, the next day, Wednesday at 10:00 am, at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, in Morrisville, Pennsylvania.
