Obituary of Barbara E. Hughes

Barbara E. Hughes Barbara E. Hughes, 97, of Newtown, PA, passed away on April 5, 2021. Born in Westerly, RI, she has been a Newtown resident for the past 8 years. Barbara worked as a secretary for the State of New Jersey before becoming a full-time homemaker in Yardley, PA. She concentrated on raising her son and daughter with her late husband, Frank, and cherished family activities and vacations. Barbara was an avid reader and a devoted member of St. Ignatius Parish. Wife of the late Frank F. Hughes, and mother of the late Laurie Hughes, she is survived by her son, David Hughes of Newtown, PA, two grandchildren Bryan and Ariel, and three great-grandchildren Dominic, Daphne, and Zoe. A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 9, 2021 at 12:15pm at the Newtown Cemetery, Newtown, PA. Arrangements are under the care of the FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home, 17 S. Delaware Ave., Yardley, PA 19067.
