Elmont Cheesman of Yardley, PA died on Tuesday March 7, 2017 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA. He was 84. Born in Florence, NJ, a son of the late Russell and Susan Wilson Cheesman, he has resided in Yardley for the past 60 years. Elmont was a shipping foreman, retiring from General Motors in Ewing, NJ. Prior to General Motors he worked for Ajax Engineering in Trenton, NJ. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, a member of the V.F.W. 6393, Yardley, American Legion Knowles Doyle Post 317, Yardley, B.P.O.E. 2023, Fairless, and Woodside Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife, Mary Harris Cheesman; his daughter Shirley Beighley; son-in-law, Ron Beighley; brother, Richard C. Cheesman; two sisters, Janet Woodworth, and Sandy Aaronson; three grandchildren, Jamie Beighley, Ronnie Beighley, and Jackie Stephens and her husband Joe; four great grandchildren, Tommy, Jaivan, Evan, and Jamieson Elmont, and a large extended family. A funeral service will be at 3pm Sunday at the FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home, 17 S. Delaware Avenue (River Road), Yardley, where friends may call until 6pm. Burial with Military Honors will be at 10am Monday at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Woodside Presbyterian Church, 1667 Edgewood Road, Yardley, PA 19067.
