Harry M. Torbert
Harry M. Torbert of Lower Makefield Township, PA, passed away on Saturday November 6, 2021, at Arden Courts of Yardley. He was 92.
Born in Trenton, NJ, he was raised in Newtown, PA, and was the son of the late Harry M. and Anna Finney Torbert.
Harry began working at a young age for his family's dairy business in Newtown, PA. The family then expanded the business to include what is now the Torbert Farm in Yardley, PA. The farm is still in operation today and crops are planted and harvested by a local farmer.
Harry was an avid Michigan football fan and St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan. He played both football and baseball in high school and continued playing baseball in local leagues until he was 40.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Virginia Cochrane Torbert; a daughter, Janice Stickle of Anamosa, Iowa; a son, John H. Torbert Sr.; four grandchildren: Jessica Stickle, Erin Torbert Merlino (Nick), Catherine Torbert Barninger (Andrew), and John H. Torbert Jr.; and three great grandchildren: Baileigh, Colton, and Jacob.
Friends are invited to call from 6pm-8pm on Thursday, November 11th at the FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home, 17 S. Delaware Avenue, Yardley PA. The family would appreciate the wearing of masks. The burial will be private.
