Edward T. Shimko
Edward T. Shimko, 87, Fayetteville, NC, died on Wednesday February 23, 2022 at his home.
Born in Trenton, NJ, a son of the late George and Mildred Heath Shimko, he was formerly of Washington Crossing, PA, and has resided in Fayetteville for the past 31 years.
After finishing his education, Ed served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. Upon his discharge from four years of active service, he began a successful career in insurance as an agent for Met Life. When Ed retired, he embarked on a new field of employment as an EMT-CNA for Interim Health Care. He also was active in the American Legion and the US Air Force Association where he was bestowed the rank of Commemorative Colonel. During his careers, Ed found the time and talent to become a credentialled international photographic journalist.
He is survived by two sons, Christopher Shimko, and Scott Shimko; two daughters, Jeannine Cordray, and Michele Shimko; seven grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late George Shimko and Evelyn Treibly.
A private family service will be held with burial at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery.
