Dorothy Stackhouse

Dorothy M. Stackhouse, 94, of Lower Makefield Township, PA passed away on Saturday March 12, 2022 at the Buckingham Valley Nursing Center.

Born in Yardley, PA, she has been a lifelong resident.She was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Margaret Gentile Francis, brother, Norman, and sisters, Joyce Marrazzo and Patricia Jones.

Dorothy worked as a stock control clerk at Mercer Medical Center in Trenton, NJ until her retirement. Her greatest accomplishment was raising her family with warmth and geniality. Dorothy enjoyed entertaining family and friends in her home and always received high marks for cooking and baking.  She also enjoyed card playing and games with friends and spending time with her grandchildren. In the summers, Dorothy along with family and friends enjoyed vacationing at the Jersey shore.  

Wife of the late John Reid Stackhouse, she is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Jane and Joe Kurcon of North Wales, PA, and Sue and Ed McAvoy of Cherry Hill, NJ: four granddaughters, Danielle Hulings, Meaghan (Jim) Argianas, Courtney (Mark) Rosskamm, and Shannon McAvoy, and two great grandchildren, Joshua Rubin, and Chloe Argianas and many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral service will be at 11am on Friday March 18, 2022, at the FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home, 17 S. Delaware Avenue (River Road), Yardley, PA, where friends may call from 10am. Interment will be in the St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church Cemetery in Yardley.
