Obituary of John B. Keating

John "Jack" B. Keating, Jr., 85, of Yardley, Pennsylvania and Bonita Springs, FL died peacefully on Wednesday, October 4, 2023. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Lorraine Cook Keating, his sister Joan Foley and her husband, Frank, his brother Thomas Keating, and his brother-in-law James Cunningham  

He was born in Trenton, NJ to John B. And Helen Keating. Jack attended Blessed Sacrament School, Trenton Catholic High School and Rider College. He proudly served in the United States Navy. Jack and Lorraine were parishioners of St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Yardley, PA and formerly Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Morrisville, PA.

In 1962, Jack began his insurance profession at Sylvester & Keating, Inc. in Penndel, PA. Until his retirement, he was very honored and proud to later man the helm at Sylvester & Keating which has been family owned since 1929.

Throughout his life, Jack was involved with a variety of family and community activities. He served as a Justice of Peace in Morrisville, PA and was a member of Lions Club International. Golfing was his joy. He was a member of Yardley Country Club, Trenton Country Club, and Spring Run Country Club in Bonita Springs, FL. Jack always looked forward to his annual outings with his traveling golf group and his weekly travel golf buddies He later picked up the game of bocce. Jack enjoyed coaching various levels of baseball. Jack and Lorraine enjoyed traveling in the U.S. and abroad. Reading and trips to the casinos were also sources of enjoyment for Jack.

Jack is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis Scott and Claire Keating of Wrightstown, PA., Jeffrey Michael and Colette Keating of Langhorne, PA, and daughter Michelle Keating of Toms River, NJ.

He was adored by his seven grandchildren, Dennis "Scott", Jr. (Lisa) of Perkasie, PA, Wesley (Michele) of Littleton, CO, Jared B. Keating (Katy) of Phoenixville, PA, Brian Keating of Jersey City, NJ, Michael (Ashlee) Keating of Wyncote, PA, Brielle Donan of Philadelphia, PA and Jack Donan of Morrisville, PA. He was known as Great Grandpop to Dennis Scott "Trey" 3rd, Nora, Quinn, Sophie, Lyla, Owen, Hannah, Jack Keating. Jack is also survived by his sister Judy Cunningham, and sister-in-law Arleen Keating. He will be missed by his nieces and nephews who together shared many laughs and good times with "Uncle Jack".

The funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at 11:00am at St. Andrew's Catholic Church 81 Swamp Road, Newtown, PA, 18940. Calling hours for family and friends will be held on Monday, October 9, 2023, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home 17 S. Delaware Ave. Yardley, PA 19067, and from 10:00am to 11:00am on Tuesday at the church. Interment in the Washington Crossing National Cemetery will be held privately for the family.
