Obituary of Robert J. Sweeney
Robert Sweeney, "Bob", 94, of Doylestown, PA. passed away on Wednesday, January 17th, 2024, at Presbyterian Senior Living/Pine Run Village, Doylestown, PA. where he lived for many years.
Born in Newark, NJ, on August 17, 1929, Robert attended and graduated from Seton Hall University with a degree in Business. He married Phyllis Guno in 1950. He served as a Sergeant in the US Army from 1951 – 1953 and was stationed in Japan. He earned the Korean Service Medal, UN Service Metal and National Defense Service Metal. He moved to Madison, NJ. where he was employed by Kemper Insurance in Summit, NJ. He also worked for Hanover Insurance and Princeton Risk. In 1983, Bob married Antoinette Wyman, who predeceased him in 2019.
He is survived by his children, Debra Ann and her husband, Thomas L Tracy of Morristown, NJ.; Susan Lynn and her husband, Michael J. Lewis of New Hope, PA.; Robert Michael and his wife Brenda L. Sweeney of Lewes, DE.; and Michael Thomas Sweeney and his husband, Stephen R. Betts of Philadelphia, PA. Bob is also survived by his 7 grandchildren, Danielle Ethier, Thomas Tracy, Lindsay Cutsler, Marisa Lewis, Michael Lewis, Corey Sweeney and Stephanie Szabo, and two step-grandchildren, Alexandra and Andrew Ferdenzi and 5 great-grandchildren.
A private funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 25, at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, PA.
