Obituary of Olivia M. Hopkins

Olivia Mary Hopkins was born on July 12th, 1995, an absurdly hot day. When she passed away on January 29th, 2024, the world was left much colder. In between the beginning and the end of her life, Olivia touched and changed many of the people with whom she came in contact. She was unabashedly, untameably herself in every moment. She was strong in ways many of us could never imagine. Throughout Olivia's life she endured many hardships. She carried burdens that many people in her life tried to help her bear, and she carried some that remained a secret to everyone but herself until the end. And though at times these hardships would define the shape of her life, she never allowed them to solely define her true self. Despite the many dark days and nights, Olivia could often be a beacon of light to those who loved and cared about her. She could be fun and was funny. She was smart and naturally inquisitive and liked to share her knowledge about what she read and found interesting. Livvy was adventurous and liked to explore new places. She liked to travel and dreamed of going to more exotic locales. In spite of everything, Olivia loved the city of Philadelphia. A true fashionista, she had her own sense of style. She was a woman of varied taste: she liked rap music, Dolly Parton, iced coffee, making a salad, her true crime podcasts and reality television. Liv loved kids and dogs, especially her beloved pup Moose, who she doted on and spoiled endlessly. Above all, however, Olivia should be remembered for the true essence of who she was at heart: a compassionate, nonjudgmental person who treated everyone with kindness and dignity. She was generous and caring, sometimes to a fault, and she had great empathy for the downtrodden and less fortunate. Olivia earned her associate's degree from the Community College of Philadelphia and dreamed of going back to school to earn her bachelor's degree. Of great comfort to those who loved her was the happiness her recent work as a dispatcher for the Philadelphia Police Department brought her. Though she was only employed there a few months, she often referred it as a "dream job." She truly enjoyed her work and was proud of how she excelled in the training program. Olivia is survived by her devoted parents, Patricia Maloney and Mark Hopkins, her loving brother, Matthew and his fiancée Christina, dozens of loving aunts, uncles, and cousins, and most of all by the innumerable memories held by anyone and everyone who spent a moment in her company. There was so much more that Olivia was meant to say and do in this world, but the memories she's left us with will always be there to guide us to her in every moment. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Ignatius of Antioch Roman Catholic Church, 999 Reading Avenue, Yardley, Pa.
