Obituary of Evelyn Conway
Evelyn "Ebby" Conway 8/29/1930 - 2/8/2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Evelyn Conway, 93, a loving wife, devoted mother, sister, aunt, friend, and a treasured member of the St. Ignatius and Yardley community. Ebby left us peacefully on February 8, 2024, surrounded by her family, leaving behind a legacy of love, learning, humor, and compassion that touched the lives of many.
She was a revered educator in the Council Rock School system. Ebby shared her love for the Phillies with her close family friend, John. She led Bible study and a prayer group for many years, which she enjoyed with all her parish friends. Born in Plainfield, Ebby spent time in Costa Rica doing mission work. With a Master's Degree, she pursued a career in education with a passion that was evident in every lesson she taught, instilling not just knowledge but also a love for learning that her students carried with them long after leaving her classroom. Ebby's role as a mother was filled with the same love and guidance she showed her students. She was a beacon of strength and kindness, always putting her family first. Ebby volunteered, participated in local events, and was always ready with a kind word or a helping hand. Ebby spent the last 10 months at McAuley Healthcare Center, in Watchung, NJ, with her sister, Sister Mary Faith Moore. They spent their days sharing their lifelong memories, from the early years on 8th Street in Plainfield to the many joyful summers at their family home in Budd Lake, memorable times at Mount St. Mary Academy, and the cherished winters with their beloved sister Kathleen in Naples, Florida.
Ebby was predeceased by her husband, Jerry, and son, Cliff. As we say goodbye to Evelyn Conway, we celebrate the extraordinary life she led. Her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us.
The funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, February 12, 2024, at 11:00am at St. Ignatius of Antioch Catholic Church 999 Reading Avenue, Yardley, PA 19067. Interment will be in the St. Ignatius Cemetery, River Road, Yardley, PA 19067. Arrangements are under the care of the FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home 17 S. Delaware Avenue Yardley, PA 19067.
