Obituary of John H. Warren

John Henry Warren, 88, of Ocean City, NJ died peacefully at home on March 12, 2024. John was born on the 24th of May in Philadelphia, PA in 1935 to George and Margaret (nee Nenstiel) Warren. The family later moved to Millville, NJ where John was raised and remained through his college education at the University of Delaware, followed by his service in the U.S. Army as rank of First Lieutenant. John is survived by his beautiful wife of 64 years, Rita Warren, his children, Gina (Warren) and John Giordano, Kevin Warren, Michelle (Warren) and Donald Barder. His grandchildren, Jessica Giordano and fiancé Timothy Sanborn, Christina Giordano, Alexandra Wold, Samantha Wold, William Warren and Summer (nee Driver) Warren, Kevin John (KJ) Warren, and Holdyn Barder. As well as his great grandchildren, Oakley and Teagan Warren, and his brother and sister-in-law George and Pamela Warren. John met the love of his life, Rita (his "Polka Hop Queen"), after his discharge from the Army. They were engaged within 3 months and married 6 months later. John had already begun an illustrious career at Mobil Oil Corporation in Paulsboro, NJ by the time they married. They lived in Vineland, NJ and shortly after in Willingboro, NJ in their first family home. Over the course of their marriage, they moved to Sewell, NJ, Yardley, PA, Fairfax, VA, and finally Ocean City, NJ. The absolute loves of his life were his wife and children. But most of all, his grandchildren, and great granddaughters; they were his pride and joy. Every single one of them was his favorite, who he loved "one penny more" than they loved him all the time. He also had an extended list of "unofficial" grandchildren who he loved as his own. John's 38-year career with Mobil Oil took him to every corner of the world. His position when he retired was Aviation Operations/Technical Manager of Mobil International Aviation and Marine Sales Inc. – MIAMI. He made a name for himself with his expertise in static electricity in jet fueling. Moving on to research in the development of Mobil One Oil. This brought him the promotion to move to the international division in New York City. John was a devoted Catholic who served his religion through committees at his local church, head usher, Knights of Columbus – Fourth Degree, and CYO basketball coaching. Always willing to support his church and their members. Anyone who knew him, knew his passion was fishing and his boat Pegasus. He would go out every day during fishing season. Also, the fishing trips out to California off the Baja, fishing for tuna, with his son & daughter, was one of the great experiences of his life. John was also an avid gardener. He cultivated garden oases at his homes. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 22, 2024, at 10:30am, at Sacred Heart Church 343 S. Broad Street Trenton, NJ 08608. Interment with Military Honors will be at 1:30pm at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery 830 Highland Road Newtown, PA 18940. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2024 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home 17 S. Delaware Avenue Yardley, PA 19067, and again on Friday morning from 9:30am to 10:30am at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Villa Victoria Academy, 376 West Upper Ferry Road, Ewing, NJ 08628. John was sincerely devoted to this school for the Catholic education of his granddaughters; he was a deep advocate for women's educations.
