Obituary of Terence L. Darby
Terence Leo Darby, resident of Lower Makefield Township PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on May 1st, 2024, the Feast of St Joseph the Worker. He was 71 years old.
Born in Utica, NY on January 2nd, 1953, second child of the late John P. Darby and Dorthy Donnelly. He is survived by his sisters, Monica Merrill, Sheila Sassone and Maureen Selva (Rick) and two brothers, Tim Darby (Lauren) and John C. Darby. He will be sorely missed by his wife of 43 years, Anna Darby-Matteoda and his children: Richard (Gabrielle), Bianca and John A. Darby-Matteoda, as well as his two grandchildren, Oliver and Maxwell Darby.
Terry was a very successful business man who started his career in banking in the mid-70s, rising through the ranks at Chase-Manhattan Bank, then at Dresdner Bank and finally at his own private equity firm, Energy Investments Funds. At EIF he partnered with the late John Buehler and Herbert Magid.
Terry was gregarious and fun to be with but was also a hard worker and an intelligent and strategic business partner. He was well regarded by employees and clients for his business acumen as well as his interest and care for each individual he met. In his later years he was very
philanthropic and donated to various charities, mostly religious and educational.
In his leisure time Terry enjoyed playing golf, bike riding, fishing, and spending time in Cape May, NJ. He was an avid traveler and lover of wine, he enjoyed dining out with his friends and family and was an expert on the grill. He told great bad jokes and had an infectious laugh.
The funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 6, 2024, at 11:00am at St. Ignatius of Antioch Church 999 Reading Avenue Yardley, PA 19067. Calling hours will be from 10:00am to 11:00am at the church. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery, Newtown, PA. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Legacy of Life Foundation, 25 S.
