Obituary of Patricia Russo
Patricia Ann Fox Russo, of Ewing, NJ, passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening June 4, 2024. She lived in Trenton, Bordentown, and for the past sixty-plus years in Ewing Township. Some of our fondest memories are of the sweet, peaceful summers and memorable Thanksgiving gatherings we shared together at our second home in Westport, New York on Lake Champlain and on Dad's sailboat "Alchemy." These places hold a special place in our hearts.
Pat graduated from Trenton State Teachers College, Class of 1952. She began her teaching career in the Trenton School System at the Stokes School and then at the Junior Three. She was a stay-at-home mother as her children grew up, and later returned to part-time teaching in the Ewing Township School System as a basic skills teacher working under Title I. She loved working with young minds and her excellent organization and teaching skills were recognized by her peers and supervisors in the teaching profession.
Pat was a member of the Trenton College Club, Inc., an Honorary Life Member of the American Association of the University Women, and The Contemporary of Trenton. Pat also served on the following Boards: the Trenton League of Women Voters, The Trenton College Club, The Contemporary, and the Carolyn Stokes Day Nursery. She was also a member of the Elizabethtown-Westport New York Garden Club and a member and supporter of the Adirondack Council and the Adirondack Architectural Heritage.
Pat was predeceased by her beloved parents Charles Michael Fox and Frances Hennessy Fox, her sister Carol Fox Volz, her loving and devoted husband of nearly seventy-one years Richard J. Russo and her beloved daughter Kathleen C. Russo. She is remembered tenderly as a loving mother by her remaining children R. James Russo Junior, and his wife Kate, Frances R. Russo Cress, and her husband Mark, and a doting grandmother to her two beautiful granddaughters Eliza R. Cress and Caroline G. Cress. Pat is also survived by a nephew, Joseph Volz, and two nieces, Susan Volz Hedner and Amy Volz Owens.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 14, 2024, at 10:30am at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church 137 W. Upper Ferry Road, Ewing, NJ 08628. Calling hours will be from 9:30am to 10:30am at the church. Interment will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery 1200 Cedar Lane Hamilton, NJ 08610.
Our family wishes to thank everyone for their kind friendship, support, and prayers as we celebrate Pat's life. Please join us for lunch at the Blooming Grove Inn, Ewing, NJ, thereafter.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests contributions be made in Pat's honor to STUART Country Day School of the Sacred Heart, 1200 Stuart Road, Princeton, NJ 08540-1297.
Arrangements are under the care of the FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home 17 S. Delaware Avenue, Yardley, PA 19067. Condolences for the family can be left at www.fitzgeraldsommerfuneralhome.com.
