Obituary of Edwin W. Scott
Please share a memory of Edwin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Edwin W. Scott, 85, of Warminster, PA, passed away on June 29, 2024.
Born in Springfield, PA, Ed was a Bucks County resident for over 50 years as well as being a part-time resident of Sea Isle City, NJ. A proud graduate of West Philadelphia Catholic High School for Boys, Ed attended both Villanova University and the Villanova University School of Law on academic scholarship graduating at the top of his class both as undergraduate and as a member of the Law Review and Order of the Coif in law school. Ed was a devout Catholic who never missed an opportunity to attend Mass praying for his family and friends. After law school, Ed was employed by the Philadelphia Electric Company and American Electric Power but spent the vast majority of his professional life with the legal department of the Consolidated Edison Company of New York, rising to the rank of General Counsel.
Ed was an active member of the Shore Club in Wildwood, NJ, and loved golfing with his family and his friends. He volunteered whenever time allowed and was the former Athletic Director at St. Ignatius in Yardley, coached and umpired in the Pennsbury Athletic Association for years and lent time to the Jaycees, Bishop Egan and Bishop Conwell. An avid local sports fan he kept a special place in his heart for his beloved Villanova Wildcats. Although he traveled the world extensively with his wife, Ed's favorite place was wherever his family happened to be when he could listen to the family goings on, smoke a cigar and simply rejoice in being with them.
Son of the late Paul and Winifred (Donnelly) Scott, husband of the late Rita (Trani) Scott, brother of the late Paul Scott, Winifred Haug and her husband Arthur, Mary Ward, and brother-in-law of the late Frank Trani.
He is survived by his loving children William E. Scott and his wife Valerie of New Hope, PA, Thomas Scott of Yardley, PA, Winifred Reilly and her husband Timothy of Raleigh, NC, and Kelly Donohue and her husband Christian of Clayton, NC, grandchildren Michael, Steven, Allison, Brendan (Lisa), Patrick, Connor, Brigid, Maeve, and Liam, sisters-in-law Bonita Scott, Francine Fox, and Belinda Trani, brothers-in-law Joseph Ward and Eugene Trani (Lois), and many loving nieces and nephews.
Ed's funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 8, 2024, at 10:30 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 343 S. Broad Street Trenton, NJ 08608. Visitation at the church will be held from 9:15 am to 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Ann's Choice Scholars Fund or West Catholic Prep (westcatholic.org).
Arrangements are under the care of the FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home 17 S. Delaware Avenue Yardley, PA 19067. Condolences for the family can be left at www.fitzgeraldsommerfuneralhome.com.
